Cerebral palsy

“My doctor told me I would never walk again. My mother told me I would. I believed my mother.” – Wildma Rudolph

Wilma Rudolph became the fastest woman in the world, winning 3 gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay in the 1960 Olympics.

I understand that doctors are doing their best by trying to paint a realistic picture based on the evidence available at their time.

I know parents operate from a different level. Hope is what drives parents to want more. That desire is what finds more options and better solutions.

My son, Nathan’s cerebral palsy indeed has forced many limitations on him. Growth spurt during puberty years proves to be challenging.  His joints and muscles tend to pull in the wrong direction making walking and endurance challenging.

Nevertheless, nutritional interventions even at a late age of puberty, have helped minimize tight muscles, making muscle strengthening and continued endurance building possible.
