Seminar Program
1. Health and Wellness
Speaker: Hannah Bernardino, MD
Prevention is better than cure. Dr. Hannah will discuss the proactive approach to a healthy lifestyle. She will share common challenges and triumphs of the wellness journey.
2. Modern diet and the rise of Metabolic Syndrome
Speaker: Chris Perez, mANP, mGNC
Today’s dietary guidelines stem from scientific research, agricultural practices, commercial interests, and significant political events. Nutritionist Chris will discuss how major historical events have shaped today’s guidelines.
It is important to keep updated as new research and new guidelines emerge. Understanding this history can enable our journey to better health. We now have better answers to questions like: What keeps blood vessels healthy? What clogs arteries? Why are there so many unhealthy foods widely available despite updated health information?
3. Diet for healthy heart and blood vessels
Speaker: Hannah Bernardino, MD
This session will cover hypertension and cholesterol imbalance, their causes, and holistic strategies for healthier heart and blood vessels.
4. The Truth About Cholesterol
Speaker: Hannah Bernardino, MD
What do the numbers on the cholesterol panel mean? Why is cholesterol treated like a villain? What can we do to increase healthy cholesterol and reduce unhealthy cholesterol? Which fats are good for our health, and which fats are detrimental? Our speaker will answer these important questions.
5. Balancing Blood Sugar Naturally
Speaker: Chris Perez, mANP, mGNC
Blood sugar non-regulation is a root trigger of many chronic conditions. While this may be a factor of diet, aging, or genetic predisposition, there are many simple ways to work with our body to balance blood sugar naturally.
Our body has been magnificently created. Many built-in systems work to keep it in a healthy balance (homeostasis). Understanding how our body works can help us work with it to achieve great health.
Chris will discuss factors that increase blood sugar and cause insulin resistance, and how this complicates hypertension, cholesterol, and heart health. At the end of the lecture, participants will understand natural ways to manage and even reverse insulin resistance and empower their health journey.
6. Stress Management
Speaker: Rev. Zuriel Bernardino PhD
There has been an increase in incidents of mental health after the COVID-19 pandemic. Mental health, stress, and difficult chapters in one’s life increase the risk of chronic conditions. Understanding the root cause/s of stress can help find lasting solutions. Pastor Zuriel will share the best way to handle stress, overcome tremendous life challenges, and live victorious.
7. Nutrition for Weight Management
Speaker: Chris Perez, mANP, mGNC
Losing weight is not about restricting diet by cutting down calories. Such diet programs more likely lead to long-term weight gain. A better way to reach and sustain a healthy body weight is to eat all the nutrients our body needs to efficiently burn calories.
Chris will discuss a weight management program that works with our body to increase insulin sensitivity, improve blood sugar regulation, reduce visceral fats (AKA love handles around the belly), and balance cholesterol and blood pressure for a healthier you.
8. Shortcuts: Superfoods and Supplements
Speaker: Chris Perez, mANP, mGNC
Diet is always the best way to acquire the nutrients our body needs. However, some folks may not be able to get the nutrients that they need due to many reasons, such as low stomach acid, inability to digest foods, malabsorption, food allergies, food intolerances, gallbladder removal, infections in the digestive system, etc. Furthermore, today’s food sources do not always have the healthiest options available.
In such situations, superfoods and supplements are great ways to address compromised digestive systems and boost your health.
Chris will discuss common digestive issues and ways to compensate for such challenges.
9. Panel Question and Answer
The panel of experts will be ready to answer specific healthy questions from each participant. It’s a great way for participants to gain personalized, real-time advice and learn from different perspectives.

Speakers
Chris Perez, mANP, mGNC
Nutritional Therapist
Chris is a UK-certified Nutritional Therapist. Chris turned to nutrition to help her special needs twins conquer health challenges. For her son with autism, nutrition has been key in diminishing violent behaviors, improving digestive issues, clarity of speech, and enhancing cognition. Nutrition has also played an important role in relieving her daughter’s puberty-related seizures, improving muscle tension, and calming irritability,
While supporting special needs children is her passion, Chris’ work has drawn attention towards parents. Many times parents share similar digestive challenges as their special needs children.
Many health challenges, such as reflux, joint pains, frequent indigestion, and frequent migraines, are erroneously associated with aging. Unfortunately, many assume that nothing can be done to improve their health. However, root cause analysis and proper nutrition can alleviate many health challenges. “Aging” challenges such as hypertension, diabetes, and hypercholesterolemia are a result of modern-day diets and can be prevented and even reversed using the right nutrition, lifestyle, and medical support.
Chris aims to empower clients to take charge of their health and wellness.

Rev. Zuriel Bernardino, PhD
Lead Pastor, Heros Church
In his second year of medical school, Zuriel had an epiphany. As his professor discussed the future of medicine—highlighting the growing prevalence of mental health issues and the industry’s need to develop pharmaceutical treatments — Zuriel already knew there were better options. As a son of an extraordinary pastor, he had witnessed his father uplift countless individuals from mental despair through faith, compassion, and guidance. If mental health challenges were rising, Zuriel knew that he could help more people as a Pastor. He shifted his career and followed his father’s footsteps. Today, Rev. Dr. Zuriel Bernardino Zuriel Bernardino not only helps individuals but also helps plant churches and strengthens entire communities.
